Biography of Musica Bella Orchestra member Robert Radmer

Dr. Robert Radmer, Associate Music Director and Associate Conductor of Musica Bella from January to August 2003, and violinist and violist, has over the past 20 years pursued three concurrent careers: conducting, performing, and teaching. As a conductor, he has founded orchestras in six cities, and been a guest conductor in dozens more. His performing career as a violist includes concertos, recitals, and chamber and orchestral performances in more than two thousand appearances in 19 states and eight countries.
      He has served as a conductor and string teacher on the music faculties of Southwest Texas State University, Eastern New Mexico University, and the College of St. Scholastica. He studied conducting over a four-year period with Gurer Aykal, and has participated in the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen and the Conductor’s Institute at the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the Conductor’s Guild, and is currently working on establishing the League of Community Orchestras (LOCO), a national support group for ensembles such as Musica Bella.
