Biography of Musica Bella Orchestra member Sasha Pritsker

Sasha Pritsker, percussion, was born in Gorky, in Russia. At the age of seven, she started playing the accordion. At nine, she went to music school where she studied the domra (a 3-stringed Russian folk instrument similar to the balalaika) and the piano until she was 14. During these years, she played the domra in a Russian folk orchestra. Then she went to the Gorky College of Music where she studied domra, piano, and conducting for four years. After that, she continued playing domra in folk orchestras and teaching piano. She lived in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) for ten years before she moved to America with her husband in 1978.
