Biography of Musica Bella Orchestra member Lorena De Jesus

Lorena De Jesus, bassoon, is originally from San Francisco. Prior to her relocating to New York, she freelanced in the greater Bay Area including the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Berkeley Symphony, Lamplighters Musical Theatre, and the California Symphony Orchestra. She previously held the second bassoon position with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra for two years while working on her master’s degree at the Wichita State University School of Music. She received her bachelor’s degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has studied with Stephen Paulson, Rob Weir, Dr. Steve Vacchi, and Rufus Olivier. She finds great pleasure in performing new music and getting involved with unique chamber combinations. Desiring new challenges such as jazz improvisation, her other interests include yoga, reading, and cooking.
Unfortunately for us in Musica Bella, in the summer of 2003 she decided to enlist in the U.S. Navy and play in a Navy band. We will miss her sparkling personality and excellent playing.
