Biography of Musica Bella Orchestra member Kelly A. Csillam

Kelly A. Csillam, 21, currently studies horn at the Juilliard School where she began her studies with the late Jerome Ashby and is now a student of Julie Landsman. From 2002 to 2006 she was a member of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra at Boston University with which she toured California, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Spain and Portugal. In 2004 she became a part of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra at the New England Conservatory and in 2007 she joined the orchestra in a tour of China. She won the principal seat in the Massachusetts District and All-State ensembles from 2002 to 2006 and, in 2004, she was asked to play principal horn in the 2005 All-Eastern ensemble. Since 2006, she has performed with the Juilliard Orchestra, the New Juilliard Ensemble, the Axiom Ensemble, and the Musica Bella Orchestra and has participated in seminars with the American Brass Quintet and the New York Woodwind Quintet. Last summer, she was accepted to the 2008 Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan under the batons of Luis Biava, Jun Märkl, and Fabio Luisi. She also had the opportunity to work closely with members of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
